Child Care Accelerate was an innovative business support program designed to help New Hampshire Child Care Providers optimize their business operations in two months. The Program’s customized coaching journey allowed us to partner with owners and directors in the child care space on their self-identified goals and priorities, and share business management tools they can use to improve operational efficiency, build financial capacity, and sustain a competitive edge. At Program completion, Providers were well-equipped to offer accessible and affordable services to meet the demand in their communities, support future leaders, and fuel our economy.
Opportunities to Succeed (OTS) grants were available for qualifying participants of Child Care Accelerate to address business goals, opportunities for growth identified in the Business Health Assessment, and facility needs highlighted during the Program site visit.
The Program was operational from February 5, 2024 to August 30, 2024. There were 70 Providers that graduated from the Program, representing 83 unique Center locations. A total of $1,551,972.30 was received in OTS grant applications, with $1,221,931.77 pre-approved and invoiced to the Department of Health and Human Services.
Early Child Care Providers submitted their applications for the Program online or via phone. Applicants who fulfilled the requirements were invited to complete a phone screen.
Successful candidates sat down with the Program's lead business coach to discuss details, set goals, and determine next steps together. Providers submitted the necessary paperwork and prepared to take the Business Health Assessment.
Upon finishing the Business Health Assessment, Providers received a Development, Improvement, and Sustainability Plan (DISP). This personalized plan served as a strategic roadmap, guiding Providers throughout their coaching journey with actionable steps.
A member of the Child Care Accelerate team arranged an onsite visit to conduct a comprehensive walk-through and assess the current state of each participating Center. This step was super important—it helped set the stage for grant planning.
Providers were paired with mentors and received back-office support tailored to their specific business goals and priorities. Weekly coaching sessions were all about guiding Providers through any business challenges they may have faced.
Child Care Providers who qualified met with our program team to go over the required paperwork needed to secure the grant fund, create a budget outline, and prepare a plan detailing how the funds will be used.
