Child Care Accelerate (CCA) was a pilot program established through a collaboration between SEED Collective, LLC and the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and funded through the Opportunities to Succeed (OTS) Grant. The program ran from February 5, 2024 to August 30, 2024. Participating Child Care Providers in the state of New Hampshire committed to eight weeks of personalized business coaching to develop a strategic plan and become eligible for the Opportunities to Succeed (OTS) Grant. A total of 71 Providers graduated from the program, representing 87 unique Center locations. A total of $1,551,972.30 was received in OTS grant applications, with $1,221,931.77 pre-approved and invoiced to the Department of Health and Human Services.
CCA was inspired by a growing need to support the sustainability of the child care industry, which serves millions of children, employs millions of workers, and makes it possible for millions of parents and caregivers to continue working—yet remains underfunded and undervalued. Problems plaguing the industry include staffing shortages, employee turnover, low profit margins, high operational costs, and lack of affordability. Administrative professionals are responsible for managing the running operations of their Centers, with little time to dedicate to strategic planning efforts. CCA empowered Providers to work on their businesses while working in their businesses by emboldening forward-focused thinking and professional development opportunities.
Early Child Care Providers submitted their applications for the Child Care Accelerate business support program online or via phone. Applicants who fulfilled the requirements were invited to complete a phone screen.
Successful candidates sat down with the program's lead business coach to discuss program details, set goals, and determine next steps together. Providers submitted the necessary paperwork and prepared to take the Business Health Assessment.
Upon finishing the Business Health Assessment, Providers received a Development, Improvement, and Sustainability Plan (DISP). This personalized plan served as a strategic roadmap, guiding Providers throughout their coaching journey with actionable steps.
A member of the Child Care Accelerate team arranged an onsite visit to conduct a comprehensive walk-through and assess the current state of each participating Center. This step was super important—it helped set the stage for grant planning.
Providers were paired with mentors and received back-office support tailored to their specific business goals and priorities. Weekly coaching sessions were all about guiding Providers through any business challenges they may have faced.
Child Care Providers who qualified met with our program team to go over the required paperwork needed to secure the grant fund, create a budget outline, and prepare a plan detailing how the funds will be used.
